Outdoor Activities to Enjoy this Spring
Spring has sprung in the Valley of the Sun! The season is an enviable time to be a resident or visitor to the area. Clear blue skies, warm sunny days and brisk mornings and evenings make getting outdoors fun and enjoyable. Need some ideas to get outdoors this spring? Read on!
Attend a Festival — Festival season is here! For nearly any interest — music, culture, family fun, food and beverage — there is a festival with that theme! Check out local events pages for what to do on any given weekend this spring. Likely, there will be an outdoor festival to take part in!
Peruse a Local Farmers Market — Weekday and weekend farmers markets take place all around the valley. These markets are usually loaded with local businesses featuring everything from artisan fresh bread and homemade pet treats to soaps, jewelry and so much more. Farmers market hauls are generally a hodge-podge of delightful treats and trinkets. Don’t forget to bring a reusable tote for carrying home those goodies.
Catch a Spring Training Game — Batter up! The boys of summer are back and warming up for the regular season. Cactus League exhibition games are fun and exciting opportunities to see beloved teams from around the country as they practice. It never hurts to enjoy the sunshine, a hot dog and an ice-cold beverage while taking in a game. While tickets can be hard to come by, there are many bars and restaurants with patios and TVs that are likely to put on a game upon request.
Dine (and Drink!) Al Fresco — Speaking of patios, now is the time to enjoy an incredible meal and fantastic beverage on the deck of a favorite restaurant or bar. There are so many to choose from and many also feature happy hours and live entertainment.
Take a Hike — The valley, and the entire state, is a treasure trove of hiking and biking trails. This time of year, as wildflowers start to bloom, a hike can also present some incredible photography opportunities for flora fans. Do some research about local trails before heading out and always pack plenty of water!
Plant a Garden — Gardening is good for the mind and body! Research supports the benefits of gardening for mental and physical health. So why not get growing? Whether planting produce seeds or filling pots with vibrant flowers, gardening is a fun and productive way to get outdoors and soak up the amazing weather.
Watch a Sunrise (or Sunset) — There is just something about an Arizona sunrise — or sunset. The beautiful colors of the sky are unbeatable at dawn and dusk. Waking up a bit early to catch the sun coming up is a wonderful way to start the day. And watching the sun go down over the city is a calming and relaxing end to a busy day.
For any outdoor activities, delicious food and drinks are essential. Stop into the Palm & Pantry for local and Arizona-grown goods that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own patio or balcony. Cheers to springtime!
