Make a Date with These Sweet Treats for Valentine’s Day

Looking for some easy, sweet and nutritious treats to make this Valentine’s Day? Sphinx Date Co. is here to help! Here are some lovely treats for friends, sweethearts, little ones and anyone who needs some love this Valentine’s Day!

Strawberry, marshmallow and banana skewers — For these sweet treats on a stick, simply cut the stems off some strawberries (on an angle to make an inverse triangle at the top) and slice some bananas (about an inch thick). Then thread them onto a skewer, alternating one strawberry, one marshmallow and one banana coin. Then, warm some dark chocolate with a touch of coconut oil as well as some candy melts in the microwave (get festive with colors — white, red, pink, lavender, etc.). Then drizzle the skewers with the dark chocolate and candy melts to create a beautiful and delicious dessert or snack for Valentine’s Day!

Heart-shaped chocolate-covered dates — Using one’s hands, form fresh, pitted dates into the shape of a heart, with the pitted center face up. Then fill the pit cavern with a mixture of whipped cream cheese and nut butter. Chill while doing the next step. Using the same method as in the previous recipe, melt some dark or white chocolate with a touch of coconut oil and candy melts in various Valentine’s Day theme colors. Use a small icing spatula or the back of a spoon, carefully spread the chocolate or melts in the shape of the heart over the nut butter and cream cheese mixture. Drizzle with different color melts or shake Valentine’s Day-themed sprinkles over top before the melts harden.

Lovely snack platter — Everything is a little cuter when it’s heart-shaped! Some various sized heart- shaped cookie cutters make easy work of creating a Valentine’s Day-inspired charcuterie platter. Use the cookie cutters to make hearts out of cheese slices, salami or sausage, cucumbers, apples or pears. Arrange on a platter, with Valentine’s Day chocolates or M&Ms, nuts, mustard, jam or honey.

Chocolate-covered heart-shaped pretzels — There are so many fun heart-shaped food products on the market for Valentine’s Day. Heart-shaped pretzels are just one of them! For a super easy sweet-and- salty snack, spread individual heart-shaped pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Then drizzle with dark chocolate and candy melts and top with Valentine’s Day sprinkles.

Most of these treats can be individually wrapped to gift to loved ones, or presented together when hosting Valentine’s Day gatherings. Pick up fresh dates and other provisions for Valentine’s Day at the Palm & Pantry!
