Date and Orange Chutney

Makes 2 cups.

Ingredients

2 oranges peeled, seeded chopped

1 ½ cups dried chopped dates

3 Tbsp vinegar
-
2 Tbsp honey
-
½ lemon – juiced and grated rind

1 teaspoon mustard seeds
-
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
-
a pinch of cayenne pepper
-
¼ cup fresh orange juice
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a heavy saucepan and cook covered for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add a little liquid if needed
Allow to cool before serving
Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
Recipe Note
Delicious with everything from curries to sausages, as a side to cheese and crackers. Will last refrigerated for at least 3 months.
